Day 3 as a Non-Smoker

I had read that by the third day your nicotine fits should stop. For me this simply was not true. In fact, I wanted to smoke like nothing before. The nicotine fits weren't as bad on Day 3 as they were on the previous days but the habit itself had not diminished much at all.

What really kept me going, however, was the knowledge that after 72 hours, your body is supposedly free of nicotine. For the first time in years, I wouldn't have it in my body. That was a very liberating feeling. Along with being free from nicotine came the promise that the nicotine fits would end but that was not the case, not yet anyway.

I continued to ride my bike as a physical outlet and I continued to eat peanuts and pistachios like crazy. I also continued to drink a lot of water.

Just like on Day 2, I continued to tell myself that I could smoke just one and quit again whenever I wanted but of course that is just stupid and the fact is that if you have just one puff, you'll have to start all over again. So I just said no and toughed it out until Day 4.
